About the Association
The Association for Integrative Aesthetic Medicine, Hong Kong (AIAM) is a registered not-for-profit academic society founded jointly by specialist doctors in Western medicine and registered Chinese medicine practitioners. It is dedicated to the safe, ethical and evidence-based practice of integrative Chinese–Western medicine and aesthetic medicine. Through professional education, academic exchange, standard setting and public education, the Association raises standards across the field and fosters collaboration between Chinese and Western medicine and with international partners.
Objectives
The objectives below are drawn from the Association's Memorandum of Association, condensed into a public-friendly version.
1.Promote knowledge
Advance public understanding of the science and art of medicine, with emphasis on safe and ethical aesthetic medicine and integrative Chinese–Western medicine.
2.Advance education
Develop education in the field through Continuing Medical Education (CME), courses and seminars, and uphold professional standards.
3.Uphold standards
Establish and maintain the highest standards of professional competence and ethical conduct.
4.Foster exchange
Facilitate clinical and academic exchange between Chinese and Western medicine, and promote international communication and collaboration.
5.Set guidelines
Establish an Aesthetics Development Board to advise on professional and public education and on practice standards for the field.
6.Disseminate knowledge
Publish professional and popular-science publications, and build and maintain scientific literature resources.
7.Professional recognition
Operate on a not-for-profit basis and confer diplomas and professional credentials recognising professional attainment in the field.
8.Serve the public
Provide the public with education, information and guidance on aesthetic medicine and integrative Chinese–Western medicine.
Milestones
2008
Founding of the Association
Six specialist doctors in Western medicine and registered Chinese medicine practitioners signed the Memorandum of Association, formally establishing AIAM.
2019
Constitution updated
The Association's constitution was revised; the current version was adopted in 2019.
2026
Current Council takes office
The current Council and Executive Committee took office, continuing to advance integrative aesthetic medicine.
